Toyota Ready to Launch Baby Land Cruiser, Price IDR 300 Million

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – After launching the latest Land Cruiser 250, Toyota is reportedly preparing a baby for its flagship off-road vehicle.

The mini version of the Land Cruiser will reportedly be called the Land Hopper, as well as being the cheapest variant of the Land Cruiser range.

Quoted from Carscoops, Monday (2/10/2023), the name Land Hopper was registered as a trademark on August 8 at the Japanese Patent Office.

This trademark falls within the definition of Class 12, which includes categories such as motors or engines, clutch and transmission components, and other parts that may make up the vehicle.

However, it should be emphasized that the name Toyota Land Hopper could be specific to the Japanese market, while in other countries the name could be different.

Talking about design, the Toyota Land Hopper looks dashing like a Land Cruiser. It’s just that this car comes with smaller dimensions.

On the fascia, the box-shaped headlights with the words ‘TOYOTA’ on the grill remind the appearance of the Land Cruiser 250. The large black bumper makes the impression of a tough off-road car even stronger.

Continuing to the side, you can see quite large black over fenders, with a modern two-tone rim design.

Reportedly, the Land Hopper uses the same petrol and hybrid engine versions as the Corolla Cross, but for consumers who want to upgrade, there is also a RAV4 powertrain option.

Still based on the same source, it is reported that this car is also equipped with an EV option which will be added at a later date.

Interestingly, this compact off-road car is reportedly priced at 3 million Yen to 3.8 million Yen or around Rp. 310 million to Rp. 393 million. With a price and size like that, this car will compete with other compact adventure SUVs like the Ford Bronco Sport.

The Land Hopper is expected to make its debut at the Japan Mobility Show in late October before finally being officially released in the second half of 2024.
